Rexer Analytics 3rd Annual Data Miner Survey

In a survey of 710 data miners primarily from industry conducted by Rexer Analytics, STATISTICA Data Miner received top ratings. This survey examined the data processing techniques and tools used in data mining practice, types of data analyzed, and challenges encountered, as well as the opinions of the respondents regarding the preferred data mining tools (software applications) used in their work. The section on the software applications focused on the question regarding which products available on the market are used by respondents as their "primary tools," and what is the level of satisfaction of the respondents with the software they use...

While Christmas has been over for a month, we want to share some photos from StatSoft Iberica. The office sponsored, prepared, cooked and worked as waiters at a dinner in a rest home. The home is in Parish Centre in Lisbon. It hosts very poor and lonely elderly people. It was a special and fun night for everyone.

A leading German computer journal Computerwoche has published a comprehensive review of data mining tools, which in addition to STATISTICA Data Miner 9, discussed also a large number of commercial and public domain/open source data mining applications: SAS Enterprise Miner 6.1, SPSS PASW Modeler 13 (formerly Clementine), Oracle Data Mining 11g, SAP Netweaver Data Mining Workbench 7, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services, KXEN 5.1, and Weka 3.6, and included detailed, comparative ratings (based on performance tests) of STATISTICA Data Miner, SAS Enterprise Miner, SAP Netweaver, KNIME and KXEN.

Last week, StatSoft representatives, Gary Miner and Rob Eames, participated in the Predictive Analytics World (PAW) conference in the Washington D.C. area (Alexandria, VA). StatSoft participated in the Quality Expo conference in Chicago, IL earlier this month. There were 4 trends from the discussions we had with conference attendees:

1. More than ever, companies are ready to move beyond "desktop" software for quality and Six Sigma analytics. There was a great buzz around the STATISTICA Enterprise/QC software platform for enabling analysts, engineers, and quality professionals, to take the integration of quality methods and Six Sigma into the organization.

2. Attendees are thinking about extending their current quality tools with Multivariate Quality Control (MQC) and Multivariate Statistical Process Control (MSPC), augmenting what they are doing now with univariate Quality Control.

3. STATISTICA Monitoring & Alerting Server (MAS): Companies are very interested in ways to automate the monitoring of unlimited processes and parameters with convenient, configurable Web-based Dashboard summaries.

4. STATISTICA Process Optimization: Companies have an abundance of historical data to use to model processes to determine root causes and relationships, optimize process parameters to meet and exceed specifications, and deploy the models for ongoing process monitoring.
